Green Up Day Celebration At Townshend Commons: Saturday, May 4
All Towns Welcome!

Students from Leland & Gray’s Project Based Learning Event Planning class and the Community Hope and Action Planning Committee are hosting a fun, family-friendly, Green Up Day event on Saturday, May 4, 2024 on the Townshend Common.

Beginning at 8am, community members are invited to pick up trash bags and gloves along with free coffee and donuts in front of Leland and Gray Middle and High School. Help Vermont set the Guinness World Record of most pledges to pick up trash in 24 hours by signing the pledge form to become an official Green Up Day volunteer. The form will be available at bag pick up.

After cleaning up our beautiful neighborhoods, we encourage you to join us on the Townshend Common to enjoy a free lunch from Lil’s food truck, live music, and family fun. There will also be a truck where you can dispose of your full trash bags – and every person who returns a bag can ring the celebration bell! Want to contribute? We welcome donations of side dishes and desserts to share with lunch.

Event Schedule
8:00am to 10:00am: Pick up bags & gloves, enjoy free coffee & donuts, and pledge to clean up!

8:00am to Noon: Go Green Up! Help beautify our West River Valley Towns, then return with your full bags and empty stomachs!

11:30am to 1:30pm: Return your full bags to throw in the truck, stay for free lunch, live music, and fun! Rain location: Townshend Church Hall.
