Positive Action Team

How the PAT Came to Be

The Positive Action Team was born from a small but powerful group of students who saw real needs in their school community and were determined to create meaningful change. Motivated, compassionate, and ready to do the work, these students came together with a shared vision: to support their peers, remove barriers, and make school a more welcoming place for everyone.

Recognizing their drive and commitment, Thrives stepped in to support and empower their efforts. With guidance, resources, and encouragement, the students’ ideas grew into sustainable initiatives – like the Hygiene Stations – that now serve the entire student body.

Today, the PAT stands as a student-led force for good, built on advocacy, teamwork, and a genuine desire to help others.

What We Do

The Positive Action Team (PAT) at Leland & Gray Middle/High School is a youth-led group dedicated to fostering positivity, belonging, and community connection. Driven by student voice, the PAT works to educate their peers and the wider community about local challenges while taking meaningful action to address them. Through awareness campaigns, advocacy projects, and hands-on initiatives, PAT members create real, lasting impact – helping make their school and community a more supportive and inclusive place for all.

Our Most Recent Project: Hygiene Stations

The Positive Action Team (PAT) Hygiene Stations provide students with free, easily accessible personal care items right at school. Stocked with essentials like deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, period products, hair ties, body wash, and other daily-use items, these stations ensure that every student has what they need to feel clean, confident, and ready to learn.

The purpose of the PAT Hygiene Stations is simple: to remove barriers, support student well-being, and promote dignity. By offering these items discreetly and without cost, the PAT helps create a more inclusive, supportive environment where all students can thrive – both in and out of the classroom.
