From March through August 2018, West River Valley Thrive’s director and project coordinator attended the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America’s National Coalition Academy in Baltimore, MD, to receive 96 contact hours of comprehensive training focused on SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration) Strategic Prevention Framework. By the end of the year-long training, coalitions will have developed five essential products (1) a community assessment, (2) a logic model, (3) a strategic & action plan, (4) an evaluation plan and (5) a sustainability plan. On the final day of training, each prevention coalition was required to present a seven-minute capstone project briefly summarizing their work toward the completion of these products required for graduation in February 2019. Watch this eight-minute video to learn more about West River Valley Thrives’ vision, mission, work, and plan to sustain and evaluate its work for years to come.
